But its easy in church, especially because theres always another Sunday coming and theres just so many vehicles of communication that were using to forget about that why were just like, how can I get through this? Okay. And so I really think that over the next 10 and 20 years, really 510 and 20 years, were gonna see some of the biggest changes in communications as a culture that weve ever seen. It kind of just makes everyone aware, like a lot of people dont give in this way, so dont judge then. So do that. Dont go to the welcome desk. But if youve got a whole Evernote to resource to, youre good to go. We dont say, Hey, email the ministry leader. We dont give all of these different options because what that does is it makes it difficult to remember that event. I wish there was a communications director who was very skilled and was kind of looking at a macro level of how the church wanted to communicate and then executing it on a micro level. For us, church is so much more than just a Sunday service. WebThe path to becoming a full-time worship leader can seem confusing and unclear. How do you guys kind of wrestle with, you know, setting the vision and setting the direction whos in charge of that? Today were talking about three copy and paste church announcement scripts. WebBrady Shearer: Basically, the foundation of a host at a church within a church service is the church announcements; but its an expanded announcements role, because at my church, So thats very purposeful wording as well. And you know, were still in this space where there are so many baby boomers that are still alive and being the prime influences in our churches, especially the smaller ones. Namely, we dont say that this is going to be life changing. You could replace that by just saying, Oh, I was emailing back and forth with our friend and you know our churchs friend, Jim Brown, whoever. Brady Shearer: But if you are a new visitor to a church, a lot of those things shouldnt be taken for granted because theyre unfamiliar. Talk to us a little bit about visual media because we live in a super hyper visual society now, how can we as worship leaders, because unfortunately, like you said, a lot of us are in charge of our slides and our graphics and our videos and our web design. Thats massive. So thats really good. And they cant be proven. Its very simple. Church Well, storytelling is the only form of communication, Alex that causes us, subconsciously, to break out of that state, and start paying attention. And so just be encouraged in that respect. So the story framework that I love to use for this specific category, which is the new people category but also works great for volunteers and acquiring volunteers is what I call the live Q&A. In fact, there is a proven church announcements formula that works and inspires churchgoers to get involved. Do I like bacon? Helping your church navigate the biggest communication shift in 500 years. And then you go through what a couple of people SAID and be like, Look, going through life alone, its just no way to do it. Hey, for you to that on social-. Heck, the central hub would be a great option where people can get their information on their own terms like grown adults. I think that the way you host, and the way youve formulated these scripts, like you said with such intentionality, is just really really well done. How long are we going to be here? So well say this event is going to be life changing, this event is going to blow your mind were bringing in this world class speaker, its going to change your life. So its like landing the intended message to an attentive audience is a successful form of communicating, right? So find somebody who is talented and plug them into the role. I hope your churches find them helpful. In the last several years, Church on the Move has shot the majority of their video announcements on a green screen. And worship leading usually spans more than just music, a lot of us are in charge of planning our entire service order in our service flow, including things like pre service graphics, the announcement portion of our service, lyric slides, and oftentimes video. You can use email lists, Facebook groups, Facebook messenger, group chat, text, social media, the bulletin. So positive space in a visual, whether thats a motion background, a lyric slide, or bullets in a promotional graphic, or a sermon graphic, positive space would refer to anything that is an actual element thats taking up space within the graphic text, graphical elements, stuff like that. Do it with someone who has gone through this before, and the reason that we do this is because for those that are new and for those that are being recruited to be volunteers, those are huge steps to take. I always try to in a good way. And what do we want it to accomplish? But start to ask yourself, if people werent attending this as frequently as we wanted them to, which is obviously already happening continent wide? Oh yeah, this is happening April 23rd, these are the eight different things that you need to know. So when it comes to whos actually accomplishing that, thats a church by church basis. So heres, heres the communications announcement formula that we always use inspiration plus a single call to action. You can find them in the footer. Churches are notorious for taking visuals and stuffing them with as much elements as they can possibly fit on, theres a little room here throwing the date here, theres a little room here add an extra cross, theres a little room here, what if our logo contained 14 different elements? (Tech, Content, labor, red flags, etc.) Because information is very difficult to remember. Brady Shearer 22:00 Yeah, absolutely. The reason that people will not come to an event like this in their mind as you announce it, they will immediately start to think, You know, Ive got a busy schedule. If you have kids, heres what you can do with them. I use them again and again. I hope this episode really helped you to think more intentionally about how youre communicating to your church during your worship gatherings. But if you want to get. Look, its not as easy to attract recent visitors to your church when it once was even just a short-term decade previously. Before I even jump into the ways that you can give, before I jump into saying hey were going to do giving now, its like hey if youre new do not feel obligated to give. So this draws on nostalgia, which is really great. Youre saying to someone Dont miss it? So for me sitting in the congregation thinking that, Oh, Id really like to get into youth ministry. I can see someone who is already taken that next step, already taken that what feels like a leap, right? Brady Shearer: I have to say, I dont know if they are joking or if they are serious.
