Secretariat completes post-graduate agribusiness course

The focus on in-house capacity building of AAIN Staff has grown further with the completion of another Post-graduate course by the team at the Incubator of Incubators Centre of Excellence in Accra, Ghana.

The Secretariat Staff has completed a Post-Graduate Course in Agribusiness Management and Value Chain Analysis led by Prof Peter Wyer from the Entrepreneurial School of London (centre in photo above).

The course which was co-hosted by the University of Ghana, included multiple tested tools of analysis and coursework, among them the dynamics of business strategy and SME survival in the economy.

Seeing value chain businesses through the eyes of the owner

” A well worn and trite observation that ‘the only constant is change’ is by now somewhat cliché. A no less frequent accompanying observation, given the fast-changing nature of the external environment  in which businesses must strive to develop, implores the need for effective business planning……”

This excerpt from an article by Prof Wyer that was also used for reference highlighted the response of business to change which is reflected in agribusinesses today.

The course involved business-focused group-work for shared learning.

This course was taken as part of AAIN’s capacity building for experts, that goes beyond the Secretariat to the regional offices, coupled with the input of over 540 mentors across the continent.
